Meet Footprints II

Apprentice Company to Footprints Tap Ensemble

 


Ali “Lefty” Zupkus (‘07) is 14 years old, a high school freshman, and in her tenth year of tap dance, twelfth year of ballet and eighth of jazz. She has taken tap classes with many masters, as well as a theater workshop with Ray Hesselink. Ali attended the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s 2007 summer festival at Northwestern University and their 2008 Youth Tap Ensemble’s Conference at Loyola University. She loves the arts and sang for four years with Red Rose Children’s “Choir, progressing from their Prelude Choir to their Concert Choir, and finally to their Master Singers. She also plays the trumpet in her school’s band. Her hobbies are hanging out with friends, beading and reading. She is hoping for a fun and memorable year!

Kelsie “Reese’s” Barbacovi (‘08) is 12 years old and was recently selected to Footprints II after having been a founding member of the Footprints Workshop. Kelsie has studied ballet for 10 years at Talent Forum, tap for nine years and jazz for five. Outside of dance, she plays softball. We think of Kelsie as one of our  young dynamos and welcome her to Footprints II.

Sarah “Smiley” Krumm (‘08) is 12 years old and thrilled to have been selected as a member of Footprints II. She has studied tap and ballet for nine years and jazz for four years. She also enjoys taking MTV and lyrical classes. Sarah has enjoyed taking tap from Shelley Hoselton, Mark Yonally and Cait Jones. This past summer, she attended the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s summer tap festival and enjoyed taking part in the Libertyville Days Parade with other Footprints and Talent Forum’s dance intensive. When Sarah is not tapping, she loves to dance, play softball, cheer-tumble and hang out with her friends. She also is a member of her school’s student council and peer helper program. Keep on smiling, Sarah!

Kailyn “Peanut” Olk (‘08) is 13 years old and new to the Footprints family. She began dancing at the age of three. She joined the award-winning Dance Factory Competition Team at the age of five. She continued her dance training at JEM Studios under the direction of Nick Pupillo, Lizzie MacKenzie, Eugene Peabody, Mandy Skinner and Mary Cromer. While at JEM, she was a member of their award-winning competition teams and danced with them until the age of 11. During this time, Kailyn competed award-winning jazz and tap solos under the direction of Lizzie MacKenzie and Eugene Peabody. With the Schaumburg Dance Ensemble, Kailyn danced in the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Nutcracker productions, their 2005 spring production of Peter Pan and 2007’s production of Beauty and the Beast. She was a member of the award-winning 2006-2007 Visceral Studio Company Competition Team under the direction of Nick Pupillo. She continues her dance training at Talent Forum and maintains honor-roll status at her school. Outside of dance, Kailyn enjoys performing in school plays, being a member of school clubs, singing and hanging with friends. Kailyn wishes to thank her family, friends and amazing teachers!

Rachael “Papperoni” Papp (‘07) is in her second year with the Footprints family. Rachael has been tapping for seven years, first with Shelley Hoselton and now with Cait Jones and Mark Yonally. She participated in the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s Winter Tap JAMboree and their Rhythm World summer festival, where she enjoyed her classes with many wonderful masters. Rachael is also a member of Forum Jazz Dance Theatre’s Trainee group. She has studied ballet for eight years and jazz dance for four. She also enjoys other forms of dance, including lyrical and MTV. When she’s not dancing, which isn’t often, Rachael enjoys visiting with friends and always looks forward to vacation.

Maddie “MJ” Sefton (‘08) is 12 and she absolutely loves both tap and jazz! Maddie has been dancing for four years. She has taken tap with Mark Yonally, Cait Jones and Shelley Hoselton. Maddie also takes ballet and MTV. Her most memorable dance accomplishment is being a part of the Footprints family. Outside of dance, Maddie plays travel softball and enjoys gymnastics. She has proven to be a hard worker and is very conscientious in everything she does. Maddie plans to continue to get good grades in school and to “keep dancing until I can’t!” We welcome Maddie into her first season as a member of Footprints II.

Meet Footprints Workshop

Harriet Legan (‘07) is only 10 years old and already an accomplished dancer!  She has tap danced for seven years, taken ballet for four and studied jazz for two.  Her recent teachers have been Shelley Hoselton, Cait Jones and Mark Yonally.  Harriet attended the Chicago Human Rhythm Project's summer festival, taking classes with Barbatuques, Sam Weber and Dianne “Lady Di” Walker.  Harriet also took a master class with Gregg Russell in the fall of 2007.  Harriet enjoys being a Junior in Girl Scouts, loves nature and the arts, ice skating, swim team, and most of all playing the saxophone in the school band.  Harriet loves to dance and plans to keep dancing for years to come!

 

Heather Legan (‘07) is only 12 and has already studied tap for eight years!  She has also taken five years of ballet, two years of jazz and completed her first year of lyrical dance training.  Heather attended the Chicago Human Rhythm Project's summer festival at Loyola University, where she studied with Dianne “Lady Di” Walker, Barbatuques and Sam Weber.  Heather has also taken a master class with Gregg Russell and has enjoyed taking tap dance from Shelley Hoselton, Mark Yonally and Cait Jones.  Outside of dance Heather enjoys swimming, ice skating, learning to play the piano and playing clarinet in two school bands.  Heather plans to keep up her excellent school work and to continue having fun!

 

Danielle Brooks (08) is twelve years old and enjoying her first season in the Footprints family. Danielle has taken tap for six years with Shelley Hoselton and Cait Jones, ballet for five and jazz for two. She is also a member of a theater group. Her most memorable dance experience was performing at her school’s talent show. Outside of dance and theater, Danielle enjoys soccer, singing and swimming. Sounds like a well-rounded young lady! Danielle has already decided she would like to study dance in college.

 

Jordyn Cosey (‘08) is barely 11 and already quite the dancer! Jordyn has tapped for five years, studied ballet for seven and taken jazz for three. Her tap teachers have been Shelley Hoselton and Cait Jones. Her interests outside of dance include singing on the Worship Team at her church, playing the violin and the acoustic guitar and choreographing dances. Jordyn has already written three songs. She also loves to shop and get her hair done! Jordyn’s most memorable dance accomplishment is seeing her name listed on the Footprints web site and realizing she had been accepted into the Footprints Workshop. Her goals include attending a performing arts high school and continuing on to Jullliard. Jordyn’s dream is to become a famous dancer!

 

Rachel Jacob (‘08) is 12 years old and in her first year with the Footprints Workshop. Rachel has taken tap classes for eight years with Shelley Hoselton and now Cait Jones, ballet for 10 and jazz for four. She loves to dance! Rachel is also a member of her middle school band. She enjoys softball, swimming, tubing,  kneeboarding, snow skiing, volunteering at church and hanging out with her friends. Rachel has two memorable dance experiences. The first is becoming a member of the Footprints Workshop. The second is achieving 10 years of perfect attendance in ballet class. Way to go, Rachel! She hopes to continue to be an honor roll student and become a part of the pom squad. She also intends to work hard on her tap skills so that she can continue to progress within the Footprints family.

 

Kelsey Schweiger (‘08) is 10 years old and she has been dancing since the age of three! Kelsey has taken both tap and ballet for seven years and jazz dance for two. Her tap teachers have been Shelley Hoselton and Cait Jones. Kelsey also enjoys soccer, volleyball, crafts and photography. She is exceedingly proud of having auditioned and having been selected as a member of the Footprints Workshop. Our Kelsey plans to continue to work hard at both school and dance!

 

Chandler Scott (‘08) is 11 and enjoying her first season with the Footprints Workshop. Chandler is only in her second year of dance, but boy has she been going at it! Chandler took Irish Step Dancing for one year before moving to Illinois and now takes tap, jazz and ballet. Her tap teachers are Shelley Hoselton and Cait Jones. Chandler performed in two theater productions through the Brundage Park Playhouse in Randollph, New Jersey, and loves to act and dance. She also loves the times she spends with friends and family. When asked about her interests outside of dance, Chandler will tell you she loves Elvis and that she does a pretty good Elvis impersonation—”Thank you, thank you very much!”
